Marjukka Riihimäki is one of the most recognized Finnish choir conductors.

She is recognized for her creative ideas and ability to lead captivating performances, exploring and developing new methods for choral expression with all of her choirs: Philomela, Klemetti Institute Women’s Choir and Chamber Choir Grex Musicus.

She and her choirs have won awards in numerous national and international competitions.


She began her professional life as a Singer and Assistant Director of the Orfeón Santiago Choir in 1995. In that same year, she assumed the direction of the Sirenas Female Choir.

In 2008, she graduated with a Gold Degree  from the University Of Arts (ISA. Havana, Cuba), under the guidance of Master Guido López Gavilán.

She is currently the Principal Director of the Orfeón Santiago Choir, of the Tijuana Children's Choir, and is president of the International Choir Festival "Electo Silva" in Santiago de Cuba.

She has a degree in Music Education from the Faculty of Music of UNAM, where she obtained a Master's degree in Music in the field of Musical Interpretation.

She is the Coordinator of the Children and Young Singers Program of the School of Music, director of the Cardenales choir and the DaCapo youth ensemble, as well as of the Children and Young Singers Choir of the School of Music, with which she has participated in presentations both in Mexico and in abroad.

For her intense pedagogical and artistic activity, she has obtained numerous recognitions.
